Yes, council is better occupied with sending missives to Richmond explaining when life begins. Enough of long term plans, Mr. Mayor, tear down that abortion clinic!
The town hall was uneventful, municipal business was conducted , and we got a chance to hear from citizens. Both the articulate, and the less so. Practical statements to council were applauded, and rambling diatribes against the schools were not. An ovation was given to city staff who organized the Day of Serving, and one grump decided that an ovation was not warranted. SSDD
I’ve seen this rodeo before, and having seen and been there when a system which was all about campaigns and slogans collapsed I can tell you, those of you who can’t understand that you have to deliver a sound working system before you start selling it are in la la land.
A 10.4 % tax increase and demanding everybody in Manassas toes the Party line on boosterism is an incoherent and loopy message to ‘sell’ the City as a destination. Even if it is reduced to 7.9%, that is way too high given what is currently going on with state and federal increases.
Success doesn’t come cheap nor do full color LED message signs. WHY, does the city need a new sign or signs? If the City is trying to tap into it’s “historic” value LED lights isn’t the way to go about it.

In case you’ve missed a budget session or two, the compromise that led to the new budget as presented was agreed to by a new ‘gang of 4′. Harrover, Way, Aveni, and Lovejoy. Move over residents of la la land, there’s a new gang in town.
In case you’re too busy fretting about the future of the abortion clinic in Manassas, the budget hasn’t been approved yet and didn’t some people over on the other side of the fence have a little hissy fit last time Aveni refused to present the budget?
I’ll try to adjust my schedule to be where you think I should be in the future. Maybe the City should hire some vans to drive supporting citizens around to cheer on our local heroes as they crank up taxes at a ridiculous rate to attract newcomers.
